SUNY Polytechnic Institute International Admissions

All full-time undergraduate applicants meeting the following criteria will be eligible for a scholarship immediately following acceptance to State University of New York Polytechnic Institute:


First-Year Students (Freshmen) – all programs offered at Utica Campus


Requirements for $8,000 Merit Scholarship per year:

  • A minimum high school grade of 87.5%
  • Any one of the test scores: A minimum TOEFL iBT score of 95 OR IELTS score of 7.5 OR SAT score 1300 (CR+M) OR ACT score of 27 OR PTE score of 73

Requirements for $6,000 Merit Scholarship per year:

  • A minimum high school grade of 82%
  • Any one of the test scores: A minimum TOEFL iBT score of 90 OR IELTS score of 7.0 OR SAT score  1200 (CR+M) OR ACT score of 25 OR PTE score of 65

Transfer Students – all programs offered at Utica Campus


Requirements for $4,500 Transfer Scholarship per year:

  • Must have earned an Associate Degree
  • A minimum GPA of 3.25 is compulsory

Requirements for $8,000 Transfer Scholarship per year:

  • Must have earned an Associate Degree
  • A minimum GPA of 3.5 is compulsory

First-Year Students (Freshmen) – Nanoscale Science and Nanoscale Engineering, Albany Campus


International students completed their high school/secondary school from outside the U.S. must submit one of the following test scores:

High School Grade TOEFL IELTS
87.5% and above 100 and above

7.5 and above

To meet minimum eligibility criteria each applicant to the SUNY Poly College of Nanoscale Science & Engineering (CNSE) Nanoscale Engineering or Nanoscale Science Program must complete or have completed the following courses and curricula with superior performance by the time they enter the program:

  • Four years of high school mathematics through pre-calculus
  • Four years of high school science to include a minimum of one course each in: biology, chemistry, and physics
  • The standard high school curriculum in English, social science, humanities, and foreign languages

The standard eligibility for consideration will be a minimum SAT of 1320 (1600 scale) and/or a minimum ACT of 29. Exceptions to the standard eligibility may be made based on individual achievement and/or unique skills or experience.

Scholarship is not available to all Nanoscale Science and Engineering programs.
